Gen Z and Online Work

Gen Z and online work

Research conducted recently shows that Generation Z prefers to work online. The tussle is no longer between white-collar and blue-collar jobs. Online work is the new modern. Well, Generation Z prefers to use the word urban. Even though this would mean losing out 10% of earnings initially available to employees that worked from the office, Gen Z really prefers the convenience that comes with working remotely.

The current pandemic has proven that they are not hearing Hoves, but really it is possible. There has been a surge in the number of online businesses, some partially and some fully transitioned. This has resulted from the rising popularity of delivery and the ease that come with living in a world of Artificial Intelligence. So yes they have proven it is possible for the world to run economically.

Are Gen Z The Smarter Generation?

Generation Z generally gets a bad wrap for being entitled folks. However, what gives them the nerve to change the system? What do they bring to the table? Arguably, they are smarter than any other generation. We are definitely not talking Emotional Quotient or Intelligence Quotient smart either. I mean literally smart, tech smart.

Gen Z is quite knowledgeable about tech and has the most carefree bunch of creatives who by the way are starting to be taken seriously. They are earned in a plethora of topics. There are two reasons for this. One, education is available online so it is self-service. Two, their world is populated with safe spaces and open niches. Both factors allow young people today to be informed. This must be the information age.

The other Gen Z perk is pop culture. It is a fusion of all cultures predominantly cool Afro culture to crat slang and dree trends. these were started s a way to assimilate the black culture and avoid criminalization and racial profiling. It has worked in their favor as old proprietary norms such as formal dress codes to work are fading off. They are fresh in innovation. Most definitely, they are such a vibe!

Question Of Productivity

Is online work as productive as physical work? I would say yes. You do not need to just work from 9 a.m to 5 p.m but are open to putting in as many work hours as you can. Of course, this has impacted greatly on the hours spent on family or socializing. Yet there is a possibility of working up to 17 hours a day.

Antagonists of online work argue that Gen z is struggling to work from home. this may be a result of distractions and family. However, my argument against this is that the proper hours of work are more disparaged for a number of reasons.

What does Gen Z look for in an ideal work environment? One of the factors is the work-life balance. To do this, gen-Z would rather palpitate between long irregular work hours sometime in the week and spend the rest of it socializing or doing other things.

Healthy Social Life

Otherwise, they would love a place where their social awareness is encouraged. The Gen Z is not huge on rules, deference based on title or age, and work-pay ratio. These can be huge turn-offs and affect productivity levels. That said, we can be open to the possibility that there still exists the orthodox people that love their regular hours and living on their wages.

Moreover, Gen Z looks out for political correctness in the workplace. This being the information age, so many movements are taking place. We have feminists, red pill apologists, BLM(#BlackLivesMatter), Me Too, and Jihadists. All these intersectional levels of discrimination have alerted the current generation to subtle profiling in the corporate world.

I see where the self-righteous tag of the gen Z comes from. However, their main understanding of work is it should be motivating to do. Their innovation comes from the need to have a great space to work in with the most diversity. They believe work can be fun and productive at the same time. Speaking of equity.

Gen Z has a casual way of going about life. You would be surprised at how much they know about rights due to all the lobbying in the world. If you are going to hire one, particularly the “woke” species, then be on the lookout for litigation! These folks do not hold back when it comes to violations of any kind.

Statistics About Gen Z and Online Work

Let’s now go into crunching the numbers. The research showed that it takes 10% off to work online. Is this a loss on the part of Gen Z and online work? A few factors to consider. They love the good things in life. So, there is an up in expenditure. There is inflation now given the recovery mode from the pandemic. In any case, essentials do cost a little more.

Next, we take a look at more time on our hands. Inadvertently, most gen Z is nocturnal. This leaves daytime for being up and about. Nonetheless, it is not the cause for more spending. Arguments against loss are just as strong. what if their extra time is dedicated to a business? There is a boom in the #boss mentality in recent times. The fact that working from home alone saves money, is a no-brainer. For instance, there are no Uber or transport fees. Moreover, take-out fees or eat-out during lunch is out of the way. This extra money covers up for the potential expenditures that gen Z accrues over time.

Online Work Economic Advantages

Can we talk about economic advantages overall? I mean how the ‘work from home” trend has changed consumer trends. Indeed, there are bound to be more purchases done in the tech industry for household services like Wi-Fi, Personal Computers, and headphones. Seems like Silicon Valley is in luck!

On the downside, there is a lot of discovery on the net. whilst the world is learning a lot of coding, Gen Z is said to be increasing the traffic to the Dark Web. Consequently, purchases of weapons, cracked software, and adult goodies are funneling a huge chunk of funding into terror and violent activities.

Sidelined Tech Geeks

While we are on the subject, all-time sidelined tech geeks are becoming popular. Those kids in any Hollywood movie that were dismissed or bullied are now starting the show. Call it Karma. In today’s world, gen Z has proven being dumped is not an achievement. There is beauty privilege but needs to have more street cred.

Yet, every world has its villains. the thrill to be celebrated for being smart is breeding monsters of its own. Incidentally, we have younger hackers and cyber criminals than ever before. In retrospect, this is to balance against, the celebration of kid innovators and programmers.

In Conclusion

In business terms, Gen Z has also revolutionized terms of engagement. Although it still begs the question of trust, online business is buoyant. The main variables in trade have priced at number 4. Meanwhile, it is preceded by brand, convenience, trend, and packaging. Unbelievable!

Essentially, digital marketing has managed to sell you household names like Coco Channel. At the same time offer you the convenience of Amazon Shipping. Instagram does the magic with influences to tell you what to buy. Thanks to the algorithm. Above all, you believe that a pretty package matters. You would pay a fortune for that!

Maybe Gen Z is not the world’s first love, but they are trailblazers. What do you think of Gen Z and online work?
